This photo is a photo of the Takimoto family taken circa 1938. From left to right – back row – Albert Takimoto, Kimi Takimoto, Fred Naokichi Takimoto (father) – front row – Sachi (Takimoto) Oue , Tsuchi Takimoto, Frances (Takimoto) Yoshida, Dick Takimoto. (Sachi and Frances were not married at the time of the photo but their married names are provided for reference)

Naokichi was a founding member of the A.O.T.S. (a men’s club affiliated with the United Church – A.O.T.S. stands for As One That Serves, taken from Luke 22.27 “I am among you as One that serves” and a leader many times. He was also a church elder and frequently a lay preacher. He was also the Sunday School Primary department head and teacher at the Powell Street United Church

Tsuchi was a Sunday School teacher and actively involved in the Sunday school at Powell Street United Church

Sachi (Takimoto) Oue was my mother and this same photo appears in her personal album with the name annotations on the bottom of the photo. All are now deceased. Details of Naokichi and Tsuchi’s involvement with the church are from Sachi’s personal memoirs.

The Ogura’s are not in this photo.
