Curatorial Note:
Rev. Takashi Komiyama saved this letter, which gave him permission to attend his own ordination in Vancouver in 1942, beyond the curfew set by the BC Security Commission. In his thesis on the the Japanese United Church in British Columbia, Rev. Tadashi Mitsui states: "Because of curfew regulations, Komiyama was whisked away by two RCMP officers to the church where the Ordination Service was to be held, was swiftly returned immediately after the service. He recalled this incident and humorously said, 'I felt like a spy being taken to a secret trial.' ? (Tadashi Mitsui, The Ministry of The United Church of Canada amongst Japanese Canadians in British Columbia, 1892 - 1949 [M.S.T., Union College, 1964], 218).
