Description: Copy of a photograph showing the site where the original Fairview Mission (later Columbia Street Mission) stood.

Curatorial Note:

The Nisei Fellowship Group and English-speaking members of Vancouver Japanese United Church met at the Columbia Street Mission during the 1950s. The Japanese-speaking congregation also began worshiping there in 1959. The Mission had formerly been an off-shoot of the Powell Street Church congregation, built to serve the Japanese-Canadian community in the Fairview neighbourhood. Photograph was supplied by Gordon Kadota for the Nisei Fellowship Group reunion in 2005.
