Place: Vancouver, BC
Description: Jessie Howie seated in front row, fourth adult from the left; Mrs. Akagawa seated in front row, fourth from right; Etta DeWolfe sixth from right.
Curatorial Note:
Given the presence of the WMS workers and young children, the group of women may be the Mothers' Association (similar to a parent-teachers' association) and/or women from the Woman's Language School, which met next door to the Powell Street Church, beginning in 1917 or 1918. WMS workers served as teachers for the kindergarten, Sunday school, and Woman's Language School at the time of this photograph.
