Curatorial Note:
The name "Ukita" written below the photograph in the album may indicate that the group is in the home of Japanese Consul S. Ukita. Or perhaps this group is attending one of the "Christian women's meetings" that the Woman's Missionary Society referred to in their minutes and publications. The setting could be inside the missionary residence, or perhaps in the home of one of the women. The missionary residence came to be seen as a model for the growing community of Japanese-Canadian women, eager to fit in with the broader society.
